Storyboard Blog

  • Scene 1
    • During the first scene, we wanted to bring all the attention to the girl losing the pen. It shows a quick dialogue between two girls. One girl is the friend and the other girl is the one who lost her pen. This scene also shows the pen falling down the steps as the girls are talking about it.
  • Scene 2
    • This next scene shows how the pen is falling down the stairs. This take really shows how the pen is moving because it will be in slow-mo.
  • Scene 3
    • This next part shows how the pen finally lands on the end of the stairs after the dramatic fall in the previous scene. Then someone goes to grab the pen up.
  • Scene 4
    •  As they are grabbing the pen it changes to another color. This would be a medium close-up shot.
  • Scene 5
    • Once they pick up the pen they hand it off to someone else. As they are exchanging the pen it again changes to another color. Then they hand it off to someone else.
  • Scene 6
    •  As they are handing it off the pen drops on the floor. Once it lands it changes color again. Then someone else picks it up.
  • Scene 7
    •  This scene, shows someone sitting down with the pen and writing something down. The pen color changes as they are writing.
  • Scene 8
    •  In this scene, the person wipes their hand along the paper to see if it smears. Only to reveal that the pen is smear-proof.
  • Scene 9
    • Lastly, in the scene, a slogan pops up saying "World's most stolen pen". Then the word InkJoy will pop up.

Planning Blog

 Props

The main prop we will be using will be multiple colors of Paper Mate InkJoy Retractable Gel Pens with a medium 0.7 mm point. We will also use a notebook, a table, paper clips, back-backs, and a coffee cup.

Costumes

We are not doing specific costumes for filming. However, we will be trying to dress in school-appropriate clothes with a preppy school-spirited business casual vibe. We will make sure that we are in the same clothes for filming regardless of the day. Our story's timeline is one school day, so a costume change from an actor would be unnecessary.

Schedules

On 9/23/21, the group will research conventions and codes of Office supply products.

On 9/23/21, the group will establish the props, costumes, Schedules, location list, and a backup plan.

On 9/29/21, the group will create the storyboard for the 30-second commercial.

On 10/1/21 and 10/5/21, the group will film the necessary shots on location for the commercial.

On 10/7/21 and 10/11/21, our group will edit the commercial and finalize it.

On 10/11/21, Our group will turn in the final product.

On 10/13/21, we will complete the reflection of the commercial process.

Location

The primary location will be the media center staircase.  We will film our Main actor losing her beloved pen. It fit the theme of Papermate's slogan that their pen is the most stolen. We will also film a transition shot of the pen's journey from person to person throughout the school.

The following prominent location would be a classroom setting. Here we will showcase the actor reuniting with her pen, only for it to be stolen once more. We will also use other locations throughout the school, such as the cafeteria, the track field, the library section of the media center, the hallway in building 20, the senior patio, and the office.

Backup Plan

If the weather conditions are poor, we won't use the track field option as a location and cut that scene. Instead, we would film in the other sites. All of our other areas are inside or are covered. We could walk around the campus for inspiration if we needed another location if we were short on our time constraint. If one of the actors is absent, we could push the date because most shots contain only a single person. Or if the camerawoman is missing, we have a backup filmer.

Research Blog

My group is doing a commercial on Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Pens. In office supply commercials, the audience usually sees the office supplies in use. In our case, we will need to show something being written with the pens.

·         The costumes shown are usually business casual attire such as dress shirts, slacks, cardigans, and ties or just school-appropriate clothes such as jeans and t-shirts.

·         Props can be backpacks, papers, notebooks, folders, binders, crayons, and most importantly, the InkJoy pens.

·         The actors usually appear blissful and excited as they bear a smile.

·         The commercials usually have very upbeat music that is meant to get you excited to go back to school or back to work.

1.       Conventions and Codes in Inkjoy commercials include the brand name with the dual hearts ALWAYS shown. The brand name is the logo of the product so it is unlikely that you would find a commercial without it.

2.       In the commercials, the pens are always angled so that the logo is shown towards the camera. The pens are usually clicked as well so that the tip is out.

3.       Another thing that is almost all InkJoy pen commercials is a variety of different colored pens. Whether it be drawings or just showcasing the pack, a variety of colors are mentioned.

4.       The commercials are emotionally appealing including ethos. There is always a clip of something being written and then smear tested. This is to prove that the pens dry quickly and that they are trustworthy.

5.       Another emotional appeal is the use of pathos. The commercials ALWAYS include upbeat and happy fast-paced music to create a correlation that using the pens makes you happy. Hence the name InkJoy. The pens are meant to bring you joy with everything that you write.

Group Blog

I chose to be in a group with Ashleigh Miller and Eden
Wright. I met Ashleigh at orientation freshman year. We were paired together in
a team-building group activity and we’ve been friends since. I met Eden in a
Spanish class. We had to introduce ourselves to someone we didn’t know in Spanish,
and she seemed like the nicest option out of everyone closest to me. My
assumption was right because Eden turned out to be one of the sweetest human
beings I know. We’ve all worked together in a group before, and we did amazing.
We divided the work into three sections, and we each claimed one. This method
resulted in a very well-done project turned in on time. Since everyone focused
on a section and not the overall project, each section was very detailed, and
the project was less overwhelming. Working with these girls has shown me that
they care about their work, and they will put in their best effort. Ashleigh is
good at writing scripts due to her experience writing them in student
government. She\"s also good at editing videos so she could oversee that as
well. Eden is an artistic talent so she could be in charge of the storyboard
and possibly be the main actor. I could write the treatment and film the
videos. By assigning ourselves these roles, we reduce the workload, and the
project becomes easier. That way we won’t have to stress over having too much
work from this class in addition to all our other classes. By knowing exactly
what it is that we must do, filming will also be easier because everything else
would already be done by then. We are the perfect groupmates because we know our
skills and how to harmonize them. We also know how to make group work fun while
still staying on task.

It’s two days later and we now have a new member. Her name is Isabel D’Onofrio. I actually first met her at orientation as well. Funny how the world works.

Intro Blog

Hello! My name is Britanique Simpson. I’m sixteen years old. I was born in Jamaica, but I moved here, to Florida in 2015. My favorite color is purple. I have four siblings. Two brothers (one on my dad’s side, and one on my mom’s) and two sisters (both on my mom’s side). I also have a dog (Oreo) and a rabbit (Sugar).  Right now, my hair is copper-colored. Over the summer, I wanted a fun way to express myself and my hair has always been one of my favorite features, so I went for it. In my free time, I like to read or pretend I know how to paint. If I’m not doing either of those then you can find me playing with my siblings. I chose this class because I enjoy watching movies and T.V. shows and I thought that it would be interesting to see how such media is created. I also heard that it was a fun class and who would pass up the opportunity to create their own media? I’ve always liked the idea of traveling and hope to travel to Paris and The Maldives one day. I’m not sure what I want to do in the near future but I’m thinking of going into nursing. If I did become a nurse, it would be a nurse anesthetist, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurse or a travel nurse. I plan to live in New York, or California so I need a job that will keep the lights on. Growing up, I was always told that education is the key to success and so I put my best effort into everything that I do. My biggest inspiration is my mom because she’s the most hardworking person I know. I plan to start volunteering in animal shelters soon so that I can help find homes for all the precious animals. Thanks for getting to know me!
