The Opening Sequence begins with two young girls in a large field of grass with trees surrounding the area. Both girls are singing a nursery rhyme while walking. This gives off the feeling that something might happen to the girls or something will happen because of the music in the back. The scene then goes into a wide-angle and shows a group of young kids and a flashback of many different clips. This gives you a look at what happened to the girls and what went wrong. Then it cuts to one of the girls in an office speaking with an older woman about the event. This shows that it already happened already and whatever happened was not a good thing.

The genre is reinforced by images and music like the flashbacks of the kid getting hit with a rock in the woods. Them being in the wood by themselves and being young made it seem like something was going to happen. The music like the humming and the nursery rhymes combined made you feel unsettled and on edge. The kids being talked to about what happened and it cutting to them in the woods in the dark marked you feel fear and kind of on edge. The beginning starts off with music that grabs your attention because of its eerie feeling.
