There is an old lady on her death and there is a lot of pill bottles around her. The music gives off an eerie feeling to the film. The old lady was looking at a cross out her window which shows that she knows it was her time. There is a young girl sitting next to her that looks sad. This shows that she has some type of connection with the old lady. There are two ladies outside whispering and it looks like they are gossiping or speaking in hush tones in regard to the old lady dying. While she was sitting down the young girl had a flashback to her screaming then back to her normal state then back to her in the field then back to her normal state again. This part shows that something bad happened to her or that she went through something traumatic.

This establishes the genre because it shows flashbacks of the girl running and screaming that something bad happened to her, or maybe someone is chasing after her that we don't know yet. The eerie feeling of music shows that maybe something is going to happen. The rain in the back usually signifies sadness because the lady is on her death bed. The music and rain tell you that something is expected to come. The flashbacks also show that something is going to happen or happened to them. there wasn't too much in the opening scene to show that it was a horror film besides the music and the scenery and weather.
